CAMP WABENAKI MISSION

Make a Difference Today

Camp Wabenaki is a 501c3 non-profit organization that was established with the purpose of providing youth and their families a full range of recreational, multi-cultural, art, S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and other engaging activities.

OUR CORE MISSION IS TO PROMOTE THE PHYSICAL, EDUCATIONAL AND LIFE SKILLS NECESSARY TO EMPOWER CHILDREN FOR LEADERSHIP ROLES IN THEIR COMMUNITIES, AND SUCCESS IN THEIR PERSONAL LIVES.

The Camp Wabenaki motto is, "Because we have known the torment of thirst, we are digging a well for others to drink."

Our goal is to provide an outlet for children to experience life outside of the city limits. Camp Wabenaki is a  place where one can learn, grow and experience harmony and tranquility while being a child, without fear or judgement. This is also a place where children can learn acceptance and tolerance by interacting with people of other nationalities and religions.

ABOUT US

Camp Wabenaki is located in beautiful Harriman State Park, surrounded by 47 acres of woods, hills, streams, wildlife and long trails along Lake Stahahe. Camp Wabenaki is just 50 miles from New York City and has been in existence for over 50 years. It is open between April and October every year and it is open to everyone, regardless of color, race, creed or religion.

Our campers and their families enjoy a variety of sports and educational activities that  includes boating, fishing, canoe classes, swimming, archery, biking, basketball, volleyball, hiking, team building, shows, music, a S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) cabin, physical fitness, dancing, fire building, s'more making, team tournaments, acting skits and much more. This is a place where kids come to be kids in a peaceful, safe, loving environment and it is a true safe haven for our kids.

All of the youth who come to Camp Wabenaki develop self esteem and independence.  Our campers and their families are left with an amazing experience and memories that last a lifetime that they will cherish well into adulthood.

We invite you to visit the camp to fully understand how Camp Wabenaki is changing lives, one child at a time, and why they want to stay forever!  By visiting, you can  learn why people love to come back again and again, and you will understand the camp saying... "Summers Never End."
